Lovers Docked For Theft


A 21-year-old lady, Patricia Williams Edaferemu, and her lover, Mr. David Omhoudu, 24, are currently standing trial at the Yaba Chief Magistrate's Court on a five-count charge of theft.

A 21-year-old lady, Patricia Williams Edaferemu, and her lover, Mr. David Omhoudu, 24, are currently standing trial at the Yaba Chief Magistrate's Court on a five-count charge of theft.

Both Patricia and David were alleged to have conspired to commit felony to wit, theft of properties worth N5m, belonging to Mr. Williams Edaferemu, the father of Patricia.

Some of the allegations levelled against the lovers include stealing N5m, two Ghana must-go-bags containing 1000 pieces of head ties, valued at N2.5m and 300 US dollars (N35,100).

The offences were said to have been committed between 26 June and 20 March, 2008, at Balogun Market, Lagos Island. The offences are punishable under sections 516, 390(6)(9), 427 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. II, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The two lovers pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum. The presiding chief magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adelaja, ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and reside within the state.

Speaking with P.M.News after the adjournment, the prosecutor, Sergeant Chinalu Uwadione, disclosed that the lady was managing her father's business at Balogun, Lagos Island.

Instead of remitting the proceeds into her father's bank account, she reportedly used the money to fund her lover's boutique and bought him a Honda car.

'It was when Mr. Williams checked the bank account that he discovered that money was missing and invited police to arrest his daughter who later told the police how she spent the money. Father of the lady, Mr. Williams, was not in court when the two lovers were arraigned.
